Williams Bryson Hawkins age 85 of Sedalia passed away on Saturday March 15, 2014 at the Fairview Nursing Home in Sedalia, Mo.

He was born August 19, 1928 in Deer Ridge, Missouri son of Roswell Thomas and Zella Dena Bryson Hawkins. On March 4, 1967 he married Glenda Rhoads Hawkins who died October 22, 2013.

William graduated from the Edina High School, Edina, Mo in 1947. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, serving with the Headquarters Battery, 13th Field Artillery, 24th infantry Division in Korea and Japan from February 3, 1951 to September 28, 1956 serving as a corporal, receiving the UN Ribbon, Japanese Occupation Ribbon, Korea Ribbon, three Bronze Stars for major Battles, Kumwha, Korea, Kunsong, Korea and Chiparee, Korea. William worked for Burnham Edina glove Factory, C.B. & Q Railroad, Santa Fe Railroad, Parts Department, Dodge and Plymouth Garage in Edina, Mo and for 30 years with Hawkins Insurance Agency in Edina, Mo retiring in 1988. In 1989 he moved to Warsaw, Mo and then in 1999 to Sedalia.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

William is survived by a brother, Delbert Hawkins, Edina, Mo and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Hawkins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday March 18, 2014 at the Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Downing, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
