A woman was arrested on drug charges on August 28 after the Sedalia Police Department's K9 unit reportedly alerted to the presence of drugs in a vehicle that had been stopped near 5th and Engineer.

The Pettis County Sheriff's Office says deputies stopped the vehicle for displaying the wrong license plates, and found that the driver, Laura M. Chalfant, had a Sedalia warrant for dangerous drugs.

The K9 unit was called and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. Chalfant was arrested on the warrant and additional charges.
