The World Day of Prayer is Friday, March 2, with the local service taking place at First United Methodist Church Celebration Center.

A press release from the Church Women United of Sedalia says the service will take place at 1:30 p.m.

The World Day of Prayer is described as a Global, Ecumenical movement led by Christian Women from over 170 countries, who welcome everyone to join in prayer and action for peace and justice.

This year's program is written by Christian Women of Suriname, a country in South Africa. The theme for 2018 is "All God's Creation is very good" - Genesis 1: 1-31.

The program is a way to bring attention to the "urgent need for caring about the integrated system of relationship built into God's creation."

The press release says that through the worship, participants will listen to the multi-cultural people as they guide through their countries and concerns.

The featured speaker on March 2 will be Rev. Scott Griffin, the Associate Pastor at the Celebration Center. Music will be provided by Gwen Kappelman. Light refreshments will also be served.
