On Wednesday (March 27) at around 10:45 p.m., Pettis County deputies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a report of a shooting that occurred at the Super 7 Motel on South 65.

Upon arrival, the victim, 18-year-old Jacob Baker told officers that two males forced themselves into his motel room, placed a gun to his head and fired a single round near him, then fled the area on foot.

Following an investigation, Baker was taken into custody for filing a false report, tampering with evidence and drug-related charges.

Baker was later charged by the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office for Tampering With Physical Evidence (Class A Misdemeanor), Making A False Report (Class B Misdemeanor), and Possession of Marijuana (Class D Misdemeanor).

He is currently being held at the Pettis County Jail on a total bond amount of $3,500 cash or surety.
