2 Arrests Made from Officer Involved Shooting in NW Missouri
Two arrests have been made as a result of the investigation into the March 19 officer-involved shooting in Daviess County.
A press release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says that the driver, 52-year old Elmer Martin Sorrell, of High Ridge, MO was arrested on a Daviess County felony warrant for the following felony charges: assault first degree-serious physical injury or special victim, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm, stealing─firearm, stealing─$750 or more, resisting/interfering with arrest.
The passenger, 55-year old Lisa Ann Legge, of Washington, MO has been arrested for the following charges: armed robbery 1st degree, burglary 1st degree, felony stealing.
The charges stem from a home invasion that occurred Monday (Mar 19), which occurred in Ridgeway, MO, located in Harrison County.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department provided a description of a vehicle involved in the incident and advised the suspect vehicle was southbound on Interstate 35. A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper observed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle’s description southbound on Interstate 35.
While attempting to overtake the suspect vehicle, the trooper observed the vehicle exit Interstate 35 and travel westbound on Missouri Route N in Daviess County. The trooper overtook the suspect vehicle and observed it slide through the intersection of Route N and U.S. Highway 69 and crash into a ditch. Preliminary investigation indicated the male driver (Sorrell) and a female occupant (Legge) fled the vehicle with the trooper pursuing on foot. Sorrell fired shots at the trooper. The trooper returned fire striking Sorrell, who was subsequently taken into custody. Legge was apprehended a short time later.
Sorrell is reportedly in stable condition and guarded at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO. Legge is incarcerated at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.
