The City of Sedalia has announced a new date for the closure of 32nd and Grand for a water main replacement project.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 22 and continuing until 8 p.m. on Friday, April 24, the intersection of W. 32nd St. at S. Grand Ave. will be closed.

However, South Grand Avenue on the west side and West 32nd Street to the west of the intersection will remain open. Residents to the south of the intersection will still have access to their driveways.

Heavy equipment and workers will be present on the roadway during this period working on a water main replacement project. Inclement weather or equipment breakdowns could delay completion.

On April 6, while excavating in the area, the contractor encountered buried water pipes that were a larger size than what was indicated on the historical infrastructure data. This caused a two-week delay in the project to get the correct pipe and fittings. The excavated area was backfilled, and the intersection reopened at that time.
