According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, a 911 call came into dispatch around 9:00, Tuesday morning, with a resident stating that two men were at her house on North Outer Road, near Odessa. The men were asking for gasoline. She stated the two men then left her house and parked by the end of the road. A Lafayette County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the scene and when he approached the vehicle, one of the occupants allegedly produced a firearm, and was then fatally shot by the deputy. Reports say the other man in the vehicle then surrendered and is currently in custody at the Lafayette County Jail. The incident is under investigation. The name of the deceased man has not been released at this time. According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, no charges have been filed at this time.
