A Popular Barbecue Restaurant Chain Is Closing Two Locations In Kansas City
There are a lot of places to grab great barbecue in Missouri. I understand more than ever why barbecue is so popular. Sedalia and our surrounding towns have a lot of options. One particular location for BBQ is in Marshall. You also made have had some of their barbecue at Arrowhead Stadium. Plowboys Barbecue has been around about 10 years, and have two locations in Kansas City. Well, they used to.
The locations in Kansas City and Blue Springs will be closing their doors.
Plowboys opened at 3111 S.W. Missouri 7 in Blue Springs in 2013. It added a downtown location, at 1111 Main St., two years later and then expanded that spot. But the downtown lease is up for renewal. Those locations will close at the end of business on Aug. 14.
Todd Johns is the founder, president and pitmaster of Plowboys and he talked about how bittersweet these closings will be. He talked about how proud he was to have had operations on both sides of the state line, to be in the downtown loop, to have a franchise location, and to have been in Arrowhead Stadium for five years. You can read more HERE.
Johns and his team have been in more than 225 barbecue competitions since 2001, and have won numerous awards. For the record, the location in Marshall will not be affected by these closings. Below is from the Plowboys BBQ main Facebook page.
And this one is also been shared on the Kansas City's Facebook page.
You still have a few days to revisit these locations if you want to get one last meal from them. Or perhaps just keep enjoying the location in Marshall. The post below is from their Facebook page.
