There's a new restaurant coming to Sedalia, and if you like chicken you might be very pleased with what's going to be built out in front of the hotel (by the Staples and the Scooters) on Highway 50.

Signs went up along the street proclaiming that RSolution from GJ Brokerage & Development will be building and opening a Slim Chickens restaurant on the site. R Solution is the franchisee for Slim Chickens for parts of Missouri and Illinois. They currently operate Slim Chickens in Champaign and Plainfield, Illinois, and Tory and Lebanon.

Slim Chickens is a chicken tender joint whose mission is to make the best hand-breaded chicken tenders using only the freshest ingredients, served in a friendly atmosphere.

For the un-initiated Slim Chickens offers tenders and wings, sandwiches, salads, chicken and waffles, and southern sides. They have a five and five meal which gives you five wings and tenders along with a basket of fries. Their sides include fried pickles, fried okra, and fried mushrooms which isn't something offered in most fast food or fast-casual restaurants. They're also known for their desserts served in jars, like Strawberry Cheesecake, Oreo Cheesecake, and Chocolate Brownie Pudding.

Their menu doesn't list prices, but I would expect this to be one of the more spendy fast-casual, fast-food restaurants in the Sedalia area. I remember my wife and me getting lunch from Slims back when we lived in Lubbock, and it was expensive and not all that remarkable if I'm honest. Let's just say this, it wasn't a chicken joint like Caine's, which ended up in our restaurant rotation.

It is better than the rumored Taco Bell that was supposed to be built near the Murphy Mart by Walmart. Glad that didn't happen because we don't need another Taco Bell. Slim Chickens at the very least has some interesting, fun, different menu items. And offers an alternative to the 23 herbs and spices available from the Colonel on South Limit.
