The SFCC Theatre Arts program will kick off their 2026-27 season with a benefit staged reading of Bystander 9/11 by Meron Langsner and directed by SFCC Technical Director Trevor Belt Sept. 10-11 at the Stauffacher Theater.

Being presented on the 25th anniversary of the tragic September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the play explores one person’s journey during that fateful day in New York City.

All proceeds from this production will be donated to the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund, established by Senator Bob Dole and President Bill Clinton.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m., both nights, and they are accepting donations of any amount. Otherwise, admission is free.

Belt said he was a freshman in high school when 9-11 happened. But all his students at State Fair were born afterwards.

“We are doing this to explore and remember the people that were lost that day, and kind of make it real for the kids,” Belt told KSIS.

A total of 2,977 victims died in the September 11 attacks, not including the 19 hijackers.

SFCC Sophomore Raigan Braley plays the narrator in the production, which she says has been eye opening and special to her.

Braley began her theater career as a freshman in high school, and has loved doing it since then.
