Cara Barth-Fagan Named SFCC’s Outstanding Employee of the Year
Cara Barth-Fagan, State Fair Community College’s Humanities and Social Sciences division chair and instructor, was named the Outstanding Employee of the Year recipient at the college’s annual Employee Appreciation Celebration (formerly Retirement and Recognition Dinner) held on April 5.
The award recognizes one employee who demonstrates excellence on the job, fosters admiration among colleagues, holds high performance standards, and exemplifies the college’s mission. Employees submit nominations to Human Resources that oversees the award process. This is the second year that this award has been presented.
Barth-Fagan began working at SFCC in 2008 as an adjunct and then as a full-time instructor in 2010. In 2016, she was promoted to Humanities and Social Sciences division chair over general education classes and two-year degree programs such as Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Development and Paraprofessional Educator. She is involved in numerous committees and teams and created the Student Missouri School Teachers Association Literacy Night for Pettis County preschool aged children that has been held yearly since 2016.
Submitted nomination comments described Barth-Fagan as a servant leader and a role model for SFCC’s vision, mission and core values. She embraces diversity and believes that every person has something to contribute. By setting goals, she strives for continuous quality improvement in and outside of the classroom for students and colleagues. Barth-Fagan is creative, fun and innovative as she strives to develop and implement new ideas and methodologies.
