Clinton Police arrested a suspect earlier this week for possession of stolen property.

Clinton Police say on the morning of May 6, officers were dispatched to the area of Washington and Rogers Streets in reference to suspicious activity.

As an officer exited his patrol vehicle to contact two subjects walking with backpacks, the male subject, later identified as Karl Kimbrell, reportedly began running from authorities.

Police gave Kimbrell verbal commands to stop but he reportedly failed to do so. A short time later Kimbrell was taken into custody without further incident.

When he was arrested, police say he did not have the backpack on his person that he had when first contacted by the officer. A search of the area located a backpack in the yard of a residence in the area. Reportedly located in the backpack was a pill bottle, a computer, and other assorted items from different residences that had earlier been reported as stolen from vehicles.

Kimbrell was charged with Resisting Arrest and Possession of Stolen Property.
