On Friday, Sedalia Police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the 2400 block of Station Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the driver, and detected the odor of intoxicants on his breath.

26-year-old Rodrigo M. Chavez Mercado of Cole Camp was arrested and taken to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breathe sample that showed his blood alcohol content above .08.

Mercado was then transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold.

A request for the charges of DWI prior offender and driving while suspended were submitted to the prosecutor.
