A Concordia man died in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday in Jackson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 61-year-old Preston Goins of Concordia, was eastbound on I-70 at the 27.6 mile marker around 5:15 p.m., when the driver apparently suffered a medical event while driving. The Jeep traveled off the right side of the highway, struck a culvert, and came to rest in the grass, north of the outer road.

Goins was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs and pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m., by Dr. Mina Soleimani.

The Jeep had minor damage.

Oak Grove Police assisted the four Troopers on scene.
