A Knob Noster man has been arrested for alleged sex crimes against a minor.

A probable cause statement attached to the arrest warrant indicates a minor child under the age of 14 has come forward claiming the defendant, Charles Edward Copper, III, had sexually assaulted them at his rural Knob Noster home.

The probable cause statement indicates the victim had a familial relationship with Copper and that the sexual assaults occurred when they began spending the night at the defendant’s residence. The victim also disclosed the first assault happened when they were five years old.

The Johnson County Prosecuting Attorney is pursuing charges of Statutory Sodomy and Incest, and Copper is currently being held at the Johnson County Jail. His bond is $150,000 cash only.

Copper’s arraignment is today, Monday, November 4, 2024, in Johnson County, and a bond reduction hearing has been set for Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 1:30 PM CST.
