The Devon’s Beat 5k Run/Walk will be held at the Lincoln Football Field on Saturday, April 5. We will be having their Second 5k that will benefit the SADS Foundation. SADS is Sudden Arhythmia Death Syndrome are genetic heart rhythm abnormalities that can cause sudden death in young, healthy people who are undiagnosed. Sudden arrhythmia death syndromes cause sudden death in young, apparently healthy people.

These conditions can be treated and deaths can be prevented. It is estimated the over half of the 4000 SADS deaths each year of children, teens or young adults had one of the top two warning signs: a family history of a SADS diagnosis or sudden unexplained death (usually undiagnosed and untreated) of a family member, or fainting.

Last year, the 5k raised over $7,000 and the goal is to double that this year. I got to speak with Angela Parrott, Devon's mom, about the run and walk, about SADS, and about how you can help.

This is the full interview that I had to cut down to go over the air; the full details of Devon's story, sponsorship opportunities, and the walk and run are right here.

Call 547-3355 for questions or go to their Facebook page. Help kids today with Devon's Beat!

Runningly yours,
Behka
