Update: 3:54 pm Wednesday, Commander David Woolery announced that both Kellie Young and Harry Young are listed in critical condition at University Hospital in Columbia. Charges of 1st Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action have been filed against Harry Young.

 

The Sedalia Police Department released the following statement on Wednesday Morning:

Last night at 9:02, Sedalia Police received numerous calls about shots fired in the 1600 Block of South Carr. 39-year old Harry James Young drove past his estranged wife, 24-year old Kellie Young, who was sitting in her vehicle in the 1600 Block of South Carr  with a male subject and two small children. Harry Young turned his vehicle around and drove back to to Kellie’s location. Harry Young reportedly got out of his vehicle and fired into Kellie’s vehicle striking her in the arm and torso. According to witnesses, Harry Young also attempted to shoot the unidentified male subject sitting in the passenger seat. The man was able to flee on foot and was uninjured, and the children were not injured. Harry Young fled the scene in his vehicle and was located by Sedalia Police. The officer conducted a high risk traffic stop and as the officer was giving verbal commands, Harry Young shot himself in the head. Both Kellie and Harry Young were transported via helicopter to the University Hospital in Columbia.
