State Fair Community College has named Dr. Tom Havron associate vice president of student services. 

Dr. Havron brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in community college administration and student affairs. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of leadership roles, including vice president for student services, vice president of student affairs, dean of students, admissions director, athletic director, head track coach, foundation director and Title IX coordinator.

In his new role at SFCC, Dr. Havron will help oversee student services operations and support initiatives focused on student success, engagement and enrollment management.

Dr. Havron has extensive experience in community college leadership and student development, with a professional background that includes oversight of athletics, admissions, student activities and residential life. He also has experience in fundraising and donor engagement through his work as a foundation director.

Before joining SFCC, Dr. Havron served in chief student affairs leadership positions at Northwest College and Fort Scott Community College, where he worked collaboratively with executive leadership teams, governing boards, faculty and community stakeholders.

His experience in rural community college settings has provided him with an understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges facing the communities served by SFCC.

Dr. Havron earned a Doctorate in Community College Leadership from Ferris State University, a Master of Science in educational leadership from Pittsburg State University and a Bachelor of Science in exercise science from the University of Mary. He also is a graduate of the Kansas Community College Leadership Program.

Dr. Havron and his wife, Kristen, have four children: Ashlynn, Emersyn, Harper and Carter.
