Drake Takes First For Roadrunners in Regional Archery

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) archery team had a successful first trip to the USA Archery 3D Regional North in Ina, Illinois on Saturday and Sunday, September 21 and 22.

Freshman Leann Drake took first place in the Women’s Compound Bow division. Drake also earned the Top Overall Female Shooter.

“Zaydin Cunningham had a really good mental game going into the competition,” said Head Coach Sarah Manuel. “He didn’t shoot the best, but he continued and pushed through. Parker Hayes also shot well for us and did a nice job of handling the pressure of a long weekend. I think we represented well at the event.

“Leann Drake, Parker Hayes and John Aremetrout have all qualified for Nationals,” said Manuel. “Nationals for 3D will be held in Alabama during the first weekend in October. We are going to do what we need to do for the next week and a half in order to prepare for that.”
