Earl Wayne Green, Sr., 79, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Fair View Nursing Home.

He was born December 16, 1935, in Pettis County, son of Daniel Park and Zona Ethel Todd Green. On May 17, 1958, in Sedalia, he married Karen Suzanne Starkey, who survives of the home.

Earl worked for Sprinkle Concrete as a supervisor for many major construction projects in the area, overseeing projects at Whiteman Air Force Base and the missile sites. He later worked for Borchers and Heimsoth Construction supervising the building of the Mathewson Exhibition Center, Missouri Department of Conservation building, and three of the local elementary schools.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving with the engineers from 1953 to 1955, and continued serving with the Reserves until 1961. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He was a member of the VFW and Disabled American Veterans.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Donna S. McCutchen (John), of Cookeville, TN, Jeffrey W. Green (Amy), of Aurora, IL, and Patrick W. Green (Marsha), of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Nathan W. Green, Jill McCutchen, John Matthew McCutchen, and Natalie N. Green; four great-grandchildren, Hannah McCutchen, Jacob McCutchen, Clara McCutchen and Maddox McCutchen; a sister, Vicki Poort, of Sedalia; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Earl Wayne Green Jr.; four brothers, Larry G. Green, Dan J. Green, Charles H. Green, and Walter Green (in infancy); and a sister, JoAnn Merker.

Graveside services and military honors will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Crown Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark DeShon officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Heckart Funeral Home.
