Firehouse Subs Now Open for Business in Sedalia
Firehouse Subs is now open for business in Sedalia 3400 West Broadway (at the NW corner of Broadway and Winchester) in the Sedalia Square Shopping Center.
We spoke with one of the owners, Cody Newsome, shortly after the restaurant opened. The other owners are Jerry Shreve and Kaylee Pratt.
Total number of employees currently stands at around 25.
“We’re just kind of getting our team solidified, which we did during our soft opening (Wednesday), so we lost a couple, gained a couple,” Newsome explained.
Wednesday’s soft was attended by a large number of first responders, including members of PCAD and the SPD.
Newsome stated he was not trying to corner the market on sub sandwiches, but rather “give Sedalia another food option that’s a healthy option, you know, versus your typical fast food and provide just a little different hot sub sandwich here to the local area.”
“There is something for everybody here at Firehouse,” Newsom noted. “One thing I will say that a lot of people don’t know, is we have salads at Firehouse, so I invite people to try those. You can get your favorite sub here at Firehouse and our version of a salad, and they are made fresh, on the spot, and they are just another option outside the fast-food realm.”

The Sedalia Firehouse is a bit larger than most, with more dine-in seating, due to extra square footage that was available in the building that became available.
“The location was a big part of this.” Newsome pointed out. “We’ve been looking at this for two years, bringing Firehouse to Sedalia. But the locations that came up, we just weren’t excited about. We didn’t thing that would serve Sedalia.
“So when this location came up, me and my partner Jerry and Kaylee, we hopped on it pretty quick. And then we went through the process in securing the location, doing a complete tear-down and rebuild here for this spot,” he said. “So it is completely renovated, everything is brand new, and I think the location here, catty cornered from (recently remodeled) Walmart, is going to serve Sedalia well.”
“All our subs are fabulous, but everybody’s got their favorite,” Newsome told KSIS. “I think 99 percent of the time, if I got into Firehouse, it’s the standard ‘Hook & Ladder’ – nothing special, it’s just fantastic.”
Firehouse Subs is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily.
Newsome highly suggested customers go online and download and use the Firehouse App and rewards program. “That’s the best way to order and get rewards points, too,” he emphasized. “We’re available on Door Dash, Uber Eats, all the normal platforms, if you can’t make it out here during your lunch hour, they can bring it to you. Door Dash is a big thing around here … That will be a big focus here, with customer service on the Door Dash and online ordering – just really across the board.”
And what looks like a drive-through window on the south side of the building is actually a pickup window for orders that have already been placed.
According to a press release issued by Firehouse Subs at noon today:
Founded by former firefighter brothers out of Jacksonville, Florida nearly 30 years ago, the foundation of Firehouse Subs is built upon serving hot, flavorful subs using quality ingredients, offering exceptional guest service, and commitment to public safety. A proprietary steaming process unlocks flavor and maintains moisture in every made-to-order, sliced in-house sub, making signature items like the Hook & Ladder® and Firehouse Meatball fan favorites.
Kaylee is dedicated to sharing the brand’s commitment to giving back through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®, which has granted more than $105 million to first responders and public safety organizations across the U.S. A portion of every purchase at any Firehouse Subs in the U.S. benefits the Foundation, providing lifesaving equipment and resources to first responders and public safety organizations across the country.
