A grand opening for “First Biblical Counseling” was held Monday, May 12 at First Baptist Church of Sedalia, 200 E. 6th Street.

Senior Pastor Jeremiah Greever hosted the half-hour event.

“Today marks what we hope & believe will give genuine hope & help to those are hurting, and struggling here in our community,” Greever said in his remarks.

“Many institutions exist here in Pettis County to provide counseling and therapy, but Biblical Counseling, that which is a form of counseling where the Bible is our sufficient authority that gives holistic answers and genuine hope to all of life, not only doesn’t exist here in Pettis County, but you would have to go to Kansas City, Camdenton or Columbia to find the closest Biblical Counselor,” Pastor Greever noted, “until today. And we praise God for that.”

“We are able to provide Biblical Counseling on a suggested donation basis out of our love for the Lord, and our community, and today we are deeply thankful,” Greever stressed.

Pastor Greever thanked church members, staff members and volunteers, as well as Julie Ganschow, Ph.D., executive director of Reigning Grace Counseling Center, Kansas City.

“She has helped us in various ways, as we have gotten started,” Greever said.

“We want to thank the Lord publicly, from whom all blessings flow,” Greever said, adding that the counseling center is here only because and for Christ and it is for his Glory.”

Youth Pastor Andrew Forshee then read scripture from Romans 15, v13-14, and Romans 11, v33-36.
