When I was a kid, Trunk or Treats and Trick or Treat events or parties were the biznass.

It was so much easier to get good candy by just walking around a parking lot or around a church's rec room than it was to walk door to door, hoping someone's porch light will be on, trying not to step in the mud since you're wearing your brand new Hush Puppies that your Mom told you you should probably not wear.

It was always a better haul, too.  You'd get the good candy (read: full size bars) and maybe a couple popcorn balls, and usually a pencil/eraser set.  And now as an adult, I can imagine that parents might prefer this set up, too.  Not only are you not following your kid all around town in what could be rainy fall weather on a SUNDAY when you have to work and they have school the next day, you're getting a good look at the candy you can steal later.

So, here are a few events I've heard of.  Please, if your organization or church or work is having a party or a trunk or treat or something, comment and let everyone know.  Maybe I'll do a part two!

1.  Lifepointe Church will have a trunk or treat on Sunday, October 31st, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  They're at the old Aldi building, 2921 West Broadway Boulevard here in Sedalia.  They're gonna have games, bounce houses, games and more.  I'm assuming the more is candy?

2.  Downtown Sedalia merchants are having the annual Downtown Sedalia trick or treat event on Friday the 29th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  You just gotta look for the orange paper pumpkins so you'll know who's participating.  Every place will do their own little treat.

3.  Encounter Church, 1201 North William Parkhurst Drive (aka the church that kinda doesn't look like a church that you can see from North 65 Highway) is having a Family Fest.  It's going to be on Saturday the 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  They're doing games, food, inflatables, and they'll have some emergency vehicles for the kids to see.

4.  Crossfit Sedalia is offering a healthy trunk or treat over at 1520 Devin Drive.  It's an alternative event for kids who need to maybe avoid the temptations of candy and need some more healthy options.  They're going to be doing it from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. On Sunday the 31st.  If you are interested in bringing your car and participating, you can email Katie at crossfitsedalia@gmail.com.

What day are you going to go Trick or Treating? Are you going to go this year, or are you skipping it?

Treatingly yours,

Behka
