Missouri has one of the lowest average prices per gallon in the country, so that means it might be a good time to fill up that tank and take a road trip.

Below, here are some roads in Missouri that will give you views that you just have to see.

Historic Route 66

In Missouri, the highway runs from downtown St Louis at the Mississippi River to the Kansas state line west of Joplin. The highway was originally Route 14 from St. Louis to Joplin and Route 1F from Joplin to Kansas. Missouri was the first state to erect a historic marker on US 66. It is located at Kearney Street and Glenstone Avenue in northeast Springfield.  There are SO many sights to see on this roadway that you just need to drive it to see them.

Blue Buck Knob National Forest Scenic Byway

Missouri's Blue Buck Knob National Forest Scenic Byway offers views of wooded lands and streams within Mark Twain National Forest. This 24-mile-long drive offers overlooks with panoramic views, rugged terrain, wildflowers and lakes. Click HERE for more details about the Byway.

Old Trails Road Byway

Route 224 has been designated as the Old Trails Road Scenic Byway because of its unique history, and its scenic, recreational, cultural and natural qualities. The picturesque drive from Lexington through Wellington and Waterloo to Napoleon runs alongside the Missouri River. Sugar Camp Scenic Byway

Mark Twain National Forest is where you will find Sugar Camp Scenic Byway.  You can click HERE for more info on it.  This 28-mile drive, which combines 20 miles of paved highway and a nice 8-mile section of national forest scenic byway on maintained gravel-road. Most of the route is along wooded hills and valleys, which are covered with mixed hardwoods, intermingled with eastern red cedar and pine stands.

Glade Top Trail

This 23-mile Scenic Byway is named for the beautiful glades that surround the ridge tops where the Scenic Byway traverses. Along the trail are seven overlook “pull-outs” that provide panoramic views that reach to the Springfield Plateau twenty miles to the northwest and forty miles south to the Boston Mountains in Arkansas. Stars and Stripes Byway

The Stars and Stripes Byway runs 5.5 miles on state highway 25 in Stoddard County from the northern city limits of Bloomfield southward the Stars and Stripes Museum and Veteran’s Cemetery. Museum info is HERE, and you can learn a bit more about the byway by clicking HERE.
