Governor Jay Nixon Vetoes Reduction In Unemployment Benefits

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Governor Jay Nixon has vetoed legislation that would reduce the number of weeks people could receive unemployment benefits by linking it to the state's unemployment rate. That sends the bill back the Legislature, where leaders will try to override the veto. The measure could reduce unemployment benefits from the current 20 weeks to as low as 13 weeks when unemployment dips below six percent.
