The Sedalia Healthy Living Action Group will host free Zumba or Insanity workouts as part of the Moving 101 community health and wellness initiative.

A press release from Bothwell Regional Health Center says the event will take place at Brian's Gym on October 19.

Community Outreach Coordinator at BRHC and Chair of the Healthy Living Action Group, Melissa Boeschen says, “Participants can choose their workout for this event, which is a great way for people to get a taste for two really popular workout programs."

The free class will be held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Zumba is described as combining Latin and international music with dance moves for an aerobic workout. Zumba routines incorporate interval training, alternating fast and slow rhythms, and resistance training.

Insanity is considered a total-body workout that requires no gym or equipment, because it uses your own body weight for resistance. The program is based on a fitness method called “max interval training,” which has participants work as hard as possible for 3-minute intervals, with 30-second periods of rest in between, allowing them to burn up to 1,000 calories in an hour.

Brian's Gym is located at 1400 S. Limit, No 78.

All 'Moving 101' activities are free and open to the public.
