On Wednesday, the Henry County R-1 School Board announced the death of its superintendent, Scott Ireland, who died on Tuesday, Jan. 25.

“He has been a valued member of Henry County R-1 School since July 1, 2020, and will be greatly missed. Please remember Mr. Ireland's family during this difficult time,” read a statement.

The R-1 School District is located in Windsor at 210 North Street.

On Thursday, the board issued another statement, thanking the community and surrounding school districts for the outpouring of support, saying they have been overwhelmed by the kindness shown towards the Ireland family and the administration, faculty, staff and students.

“As educators, our highest goal is to educate and inspire greatness, and it is evident that Mr. Ireland's impact is felt and remembered, not just in our district, but in many others. Please keep Mr. Ireland's family in your continued prayers,” read the statement posted on facebook.

Visitation and funeral arrangements for Scott Patrick Ireland, 50, were announced on Friday:

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fraker Funeral Home in Marshfield, with graveside services on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 1 pm at Marshfield Cemetery
“At this time, a memorial is being set up and once we know more details, we will pass them along,” the board said.

A Scott Ireland Memorial Fund has been set up at Arvest Bank, Marshfield. for family needs and to further the education of Scott's children.

Ireland was a 1989 graduate of Seymour High School.

Henry County Schools will not be in session Tuesday to allow students, faculty and administrators to attend Ireland's funeral.

No make-up date has yet been set.
