MARYVILLE, Mo. (AP) — Influential rapper Chuck D will speak this month at Northwest Missouri State University about technology, politics, rap and soul music, and race in America.

The lecture is scheduled for the evening of Feb. 24 in the student union at the Maryville campus.

Now 53 years old, Chuck D became a hip-hop star in the late 1980s as the front man of Public Enemy, whose songs addressed social, political and economic issues facing urban communities. He is also a writer and producer and is active in political matters.
