Home Invasion Suspect Wounded by Police Faces Charges

An eastern Missouri home invasion suspect who was shot and wounded by police has been charged with firing at officers during a daylong manhunt.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 37-year-old Elijah “Billy” Moore was charged Tuesday with six felonies, including resisting arrest.

Warren County Sheriff Keith Harrison said an 81-year-old man who was tied up during the home invasion was able to call police early Monday after freeing himself. Harrison said the suspects got away after shooting at Wright City police and disabling a patrol vehicle.

Officers later caught up with Moore in neighboring St. Charles County, where he is accused of firing more shots during a pursuit that ended with him fleeing on foot into a wooded area.

Police later spotted Moore driving a stolen pickup truck and wounded him in an exchange of gunfire. A woman also is charged in the home invasion.
