Sedalia Firefighters battled a blaze on Friday morning at 1102 E. 7th, according to Deputy Chief Matt Irwin.

The call came in at 9:50 a.m., and when fire crews arrived, they had heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of the residence.

Fire crews deployed an attack line and made an aggressive interior attack on the fire, and the fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes.

Fire crews had extensive overhaul to do on the house putting out hot spots and hidden fire, Irwin noted.

Fire crews cleared the scene just before 1 p.m.

The cause is under investigation with the help of the Missouri State Fire Marshal.

The home, located across from Washington Elementary School, was occupied at the time of the fire, but no injuries reported to either firefighters or residents.

The home had about 80 percent damage to it, Irwin said, and the fire displaced 10 people who lived in it.
