A suspicious device found during a search warrant served in the Lone Pine Trailer Park, just east of the Sedalia City Limits on Wednesday (September 12), proved to be an IED (improvised explosive device).

According to the Pettis County Sheriff's Department, deputies from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office served six arrest warrants and a search warrant of a residence in the Lone Pine Trailer Park at 1305 East Boonville shortly after 1 p.m.  The warrants were in connection with a series of continuing disputes that have occurred recently in the park, which have included assaults and repeated peace disturbances involving both adults and juveniles. All six arrests were made and evidence in the crimes, including a weapon and ball bat, was seized during the operation.

While in the park, a deputy spotted a handgun in a nearby vehicle belonging to a known felon, and arrested the subject on weapons charges. While retrieving the handgun, the deputy spotted the specious device.

The area was immediately cordoned off and residents evacuated from their homes. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad was requested to respond to the scene, where a robot was deployed to better inspect the device. The device was determined to be unsafe and detonated at the scene.

Additional charges against the subject are pending at the time of this release.
