Today is a day to fuel up the DeLorean, slip on your Nike shoes, and travel Back To The Future!  And where we are going...We Don't Need Roads! Back to the Future day is celebrated on October 21, because that is the date Marty McFly originally travels to the past and sets in motion his undoubtedly existential adventure.

In 1985, the first movie of one of the greatest trilogies in movie history came to our movie screens.  We were introduced to Marty McFly, Doc Brown, Biff Tannen, Lorraine and George McFly, and one of the most beloved movies of all time.  It was the top grossing film of 1985.

I remember seeing this film in theaters, and thinking how enjoyable it was, but amazed that it sort of had a cliffhanger ending.  When the film was made, no sequel was planned.  The writers, Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis, had no plans on another one, much less the trilogy.  Gale said, if he knew a sequel was coming, Jennifer would not have gotten into the car at the end of the film.  But the film was so successful, that he had to write another one.  We are all happy he did.

Some of the predictions in the film(s) came pretty close to coming true.  The Chicago Cubs did win the World Series in 2016, so only off by 1 year.  We sort of have hoverboards.  And the technology that was conceived for 2015, well we use a fair amount of that from big screens, Zoom, etc.

So today, try and relive the movie in all its greatness.  Great Scott!  Happy Back To The Future Day!
