These Major Missouri Cities Are a Nightmare to Drive In
I drive all over the state of Missouri for sports, dance, and fun, so I know firsthand what driving is like in major cities such as Kansas City and St. Louis. Because of that, it’s no surprise that both cities landed near the bottom of the list for best cities to drive in.

How America’s Driving Cities Rank
To be fair, I think that ranking might actually be a little generous. I’m surprised they didn’t land even closer to the bottom. WalletHub surveyed more than 100 major cities, using factors like cost of ownership and maintenance, traffic, safety, and access to vehicles and maintenance services.
The Best Cities to Drive in the U.S.
The top cities to drive in are:
- Corpus Christi, Texas
- Greensboro, North Carolina
- Boise, Idaho
- Scottsdale, Arizona
- Laredo, Texas
The Worst Cities for Drivers Nationwide
The five worst cities to drive in are:
- Chicago, Illinois
- New York, New York
- Washington, DC
- Oakland, California
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

And as many times as I’ve been to Chicago, I can confirm it’s an absolute nightmare to drive in. We usually take the train or stay with family and use their extra parking spot for the duration of our trip. Maybe I’m cheap, but I just can’t bring myself to pay $40 or more for an hour or two of parking. It’s just not worth it.
