Best Diner Chain in America Still Has 38 Missouri Locations

I want to be clear that I'd like to contest the result of this new best diner chain competition that has apparently just happened across America. Their declaration is that the "best" diner chain is one that still has 38 Missouri locations, but I have so many questions.

Food is one of the most subjective topics ever. What is awesome for one person will be detestable for another. That's why I question how anyone can declare a food the best of anything. You either like it or you don't - end of story. With that rant out of the way, Cheapism just shared what they believe are the best diner chains in America.

What is the best diner chain and how many locations are still in Missouri?

Try not to laugh when I tell you that they chose Waffle House (yes, Waffle house) as the best diner chain in Missouri. Vine Pair says there are 38 of these waffle places currently open in Missouri. I am not an anti-Waffle House person, but there's a reason why it's used by so many comedians as joke material.

This is especially a touchy subject for Missouri folks since Route 66 has so many epic diners, it's hard to accept that Waffle House tops any of them. I wish I had a nickel for every story I've heard about "I was in Waffle House at 2 in the morning when a fight broke out". That doesn't mean they're not a fine waffle place. It just means there have to be better choices for our "best diner" declarations, in my not-so-humble opinion.
