Will Missouri See a White Christmas This Year?
If you're dreaming of a white Christmas in Missouri, there's an update from forecasters about how likely (or not) you are to have your dream come true this holiday season.
I understand the sentiment that many have hoping that the trees and ground will be white Christmas morning. My disdain for having to shovel snow is something I'll restrain for the sake of sharing this. The National Weather Service has some interesting history that may help us understand how likely a white Christmas will be in Missouri this year. They have just shared their "Probability of a White Christmas" outlook and it shows what Missouri has experienced in the past. Here's what all of America looks like when it comes to Christmases that include snow.
If you zoom in specifically to Missouri, you'll see that most of the state is in the 50% or less White Christmas area.
The top quarter of Missouri is in the 26% to 40% chance for a white Christmas while a majority of the state lies within the 11% to %25% chance of seeing snow on December 25. Sorry, Missouri boot heel. Not many chances of snow for you according to this. While that's not encouraging, 2025 looks different this year compared to others as Missouri has already had significant snow which means the next winter systems are likely to include snow that will accumulate. We'll find out in the next couple of weeks if the white Christmas fan club in Missouri gets their wish.
