Rehabilitation of the twin bridges on I-435 over Raytown Road is getting ready to continue and motorists can expect lane closures for the rest of the year. This is according to a press release sent out by the Missouri Department of Transportation.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says they are making the following changes to the traffic configuration on I-435. Northbound I-435 will have a two-lane closure before Raytown Road from Wednesday, April 24 through September of this year. While southbound I-435 will have a single-lane closure over Raytown Road from now through the end of the year.

Additionally, MoDOT says that the exit ramp from northbound I-435 to Raytown Road/Stadium Drive will remain open and that two lanes will remain open at all times. Traffic from I-435 will be diverted onto the exit ramp, and then back onto the interstate via a temporary roadway between the ramp and the interstate, to keep two lanes open at all times. Crews hope to have the work completed before the first Chiefs preseason game.

Southbound travelers will always have access to two lanes at all times. All three lanes will be open before the SB-I435 and Raytown Road/Stadium Road entrance ramp.

MoDOT says motorists may notice traffic impacts on SB-I435 near the I-70 interchange and the NB-I435 traffic just north of Sni-A-Bar Road as crews are working to rehab the twin bridges.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says fans going to Royals and Chiefs games should plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and be vigilant of work in the area. Additionally, access to the stadiums from Interstate 435 North may be impacted.
