The Rumors Are True: Warrensburg Cinema Gets New Operator
The rumor floating around Warrensburg community-related Facebook groups is true. Big changes are coming to the cinema in Warrensburg, which is currently operated by AMC Theaters on Hawthorne Boulevard, more or less behind Walmart, known as the AMC CLASSIC Warrensburg 10.
B&B Theatres announced that they will assume operations of the AMC CLASSIC 10 in Warrensburg on October 31, 2024. Paul Farnsworth, Director of Public Relations for B&B Theatres, says that when they assume the operation of the cinema, interruption to the business schedule will be minimal, maybe a day or two at most.
In a press release, Bob Bagby, CEO of B&B Theatres, said, "Warrensburg is a B&B kind of town, and we can't wait to begin building strong relationships with our guests and delivering the magic of cinema for years to come. Our partners at Samco share our commitment and enthusiasm, and we're so grateful for their support."
Samco Properties is the parent company that owns the cinema building and real estate. It has been in business for 42 years and owns and operates commercial real estate in 22 states. Samco, through the B&B release, says it is proud to have B&B Theatres assume operations of the Warrensburg cinema and has committed over $2 million to upgrade the cinema building.
As for the improvements and upgrades coming to the theatre building and auditoriums, Samco and B&B are still working on plans for the upgrades, and a specific timeline for when that will happen hasn't been decided; however, Farnsworth told me historically, B&B Theatre's remodeling and upgrades of theatre buildings usually take around six to eight weeks, and the company usually closes their theatres during renovations and reopens them wholly reimagined and refreshed.
Unfortunately, following the acquisition, B&B Theatres cannot honor programs, credits, or gift cards from previous cinema operators, such as AMC Theatres. So patrons can use those up until October 31, 2024, in Warrensburg or, and I'm speculating here, after that date at other AMC Theatres. If that's a concern, I would suggest either talking to AMC's current manager in Warrensburg or contacting AMC Theatres. Those interested can learn more about B&B's loyalty program and current offers and promotions here.
B&B Theatres says current employees of AMC Theatres in Warrensburg are being allowed to apply for and retain positions with B&B.
After taking over the cinema's operations, the theatre will be given a new name: The B&B Theatres Warrensburg 10.
B&B Theatres also operates the B&B Theatres Sedalia Galaxy 10, Clinton Missouri Cinema 6, Moberly Five and Drive, and Ozark/Nixa 12, as well as Mainstreet KC at The Power & Light District, and the Bloomington 13 at Mall of America in Minnesota.
B&B Theatres is the fifth-largest theatre chain in America, with a presence in 16 states. It has developed a reputation for being ahead of the curve when it comes to providing family-friendly entertainment for its guests.
