A 21-year-old man has been charged with two felonies after authorities said he shot at a group of disc golf players in a Kansas City park and wounded one of them.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker's office said the Kansas City man, Osman Ali Igal, faces one count of first-degree assault and a count of armed criminal action. He remained Tuesday in the Jackson County Detention Center, and it wasn't clear whether he had an attorney.

The shooting occurred Saturday afternoon at Kessler Park, according to court records. A man identified as Jake Riley was wounded in the lower back and transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses told The Kansas City Star that the group playing in a disc golf tournament didn't know the alleged shooter but he followed the players and fired three or four shots at them. it was the final round of the Kansas City Flying Disc Challenge.

Witnesses described Igal to police, and later a KCPD sergeant spotted him in the area. The sergeant yelled at Igal to drop his weapon and he complied. Igal was then taken into custody.
