Kansas Man Sentenced for Attempted Murder

A 31-year-old Kansas man has been sentenced to more than 22 years in prison for stabbing a woman.

Samuel Dartez was sentenced Friday in Riley County to 22 ½ years. He was convicted of attempted first-degree murder in the November 2014 attack on a 27-year-old woman in Manhattan.

KMAN reports Dartez will also have to pay $25,000 in restitution.

The judge also denied a defense motion for a new trial.
