As the Content Director here at Townsquare Sedalia-Warrensburg, I know that sports can be a touchy subject, especially here in West Central Missouri, where loyalties run deep between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals. After careful consideration, we have decided to switch our baseball broadcast affiliation from the Cardinals to the Royals on 1050 KSIS, and I wanted to take a moment to explain why.

For years, we have been proud to bring you Cardinal baseball. Still, over time, we started hearing from listeners and local businesses about how they would like to listen to and support Royals baseball on one of our stations in the Sedalia-Warrensburg area. Many of you have shared that it is challenging to pick up a clear broadcast of Royals games in the area, even though the fan base here is strong.

As Royals fans, Market President Mike Pettis and I have noticed that, too. After doing some research, we found that these days, more baseball fans in the region lean towards the Royals, and we believe it is time to bring those games closer to home.

Beyond just better coverage, switching to the Royals brings some exciting benefits to KSIS and you, our listeners. With the Royals partnership, we will have more opportunities to offer ticket giveaways and Royals-themed promotions. It also makes taking advantage of these opportunities easier without building it into a long St. Louis weekend. These are things we are thrilled to pass on to our community. It also means more chances for you to be part of the action, whether you are cheering on the Royals at the K or enjoying the broadcast at home.

Plus, the switch aligns with our commitment to our business community. We’ve heard from local advertisers interested in supporting Royals programming, which will allow us to continue delivering the great content you rely on. We must create opportunities that benefit everyone – from the small businesses in Sedalia-Warrensburg to you, our loyal listeners.

Of course, we understand that Cardinals fans have options, and you’ll still be able to hear their games on other area stations. We wish the Cardinals much success, thank the franchise for their long-term partnership, and will miss working with them. However, at 1050 KSIS, we’re excited to take this new direction that keeps us closer to our community, listeners, and local Royals fans.

Mike and I thank you for being part of our Townsquare Sedalia-Warrensburg family. We’re looking forward to the start of Royals baseball in 2025 and celebrating every home run, every win, and every unforgettable moment with you.
