Despite seeing its six-run lead whittled down by the end, La Monte with Sacred Heart Varsity Vikings still held off Windsor Greyhounds for a 13-12 victory on Tuesday.

Windsor Greyhounds managed ten runs in the failed comeback. Mallie Varner, Alexis Millington, Cierra Hesse, Elysah Hernandez-Jimenez, Olsyn Wolfe, and Violette Ortiz picked up RBIs to lead the rally.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as La Monte with Sacred Heart Varsity collected 13 hits and Windsor Greyhounds nine in the high-scoring affair

In the first inning, Windsor Greyhounds got their offense started.

In the top of the third inning, Windsor Greyhounds tied things up at seven when Wolfe singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

La Monte with Sacred Heart Varsity pulled away for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Karen Cisneros drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored two runs for La Monte with Sacred Heart Varsity, and Addison Briggs singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Windsor Greyhounds scored six runs in the third inning. Varner, Millington, Hesse, Hernandez-Jimenez, and Wolfe all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Zoe Martin took the win for La Monte with Sacred Heart. The pitcher allowed nine hits and 12 runs over eight innings, striking out 14.

Lydia Wilcox took the loss for Windsor Greyhounds. The hurler surrendered 13 runs on 13 hits over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

La Monte with Sacred Heart tallied 13 hits. Martin, Keely Elwell, and Avery Epple all had multiple hits for La Monte with Sacred Heart. Elwell and Martin each managed three hits to lead the team.

Windsor Greyhounds tallied nine hits in the game. Danielle Ashby and Julia Ashby each racked up multiple hits for Windsor Greyhounds. Ashby led Windsor Greyhounds with three hits in five at-bats.

Windsor is now 4-14.

The Class 1, District 7 Tournament starts Friday, May 5.

La Monte with Sacred Heart plays Bunceton with Prairie Home (5-8) at 5 p.m.
