Lady Roadrunners Earn Academic Honors From NFCA
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team continues to earn more recognition for their success in the classroom during the 2023-2024 academic year.
Thirteen student-athletes have earned Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
The student-athletes are Emily Anderson, Emily Burke, Jordan Crooks, Grace VanDenburgh, Rebecca Hall, Lia Hill, Paige Klinge, Kaitlyn Maggard, Sami Picha, Charlee Reese, Danika Sickle, Kiara Sodini, and Jaelyn Winfrey. The student-athletes had to maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or above for the entire academic year to be eligible to receive this award.
SFCC finished the year with a team grade point average of 3.54, which was the 24th highest GPA in the country among junior colleges according to the NFCA.
“It is important that our student-athletes set themselves up for success when they are moving on from SFCC,” said Head Coach Michele Rupard. “Whether it is to a professional program, a four-year college or university to continue playing softball or just to continue their education, they understand that academics are very important and can help you get where you want to go. I am super proud of this group and happy they are being recognized.”
