The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners opened their portion of the McDonald's Classic at home Friday with a 79-66 loss to the Vincennes University Trailblazers.

Vincennes led 10-5 at the end of one quarter with both teams struggling offensively. The Trailblazers took a 27-20 lead into halftime and got their offense going in the third quarter outscoring SFCC 29-14.

SFCC found its offense in the fourth quarter outscoring Vincennes 32-23, but it wasn't enough, as the Trailblazers made the plays down the stretch to secure the victory.

"We have one unit that did a nice job with the presses to get us back in the game," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "We missed a lot of our free throw opportunities. It's a work in progress with a young team. We need to grow up fast."

Freshman guard Ryann Haynes of St. Louis, Missouri led her team in scoring with 13 points. Freshman forward Shawnta Johnson of East St. Louis, Illinois contributed 11 points. Sophomore guard/forward Nadia Thorman-McKey of Evanston, Illinois pitched in with 10 points. Freshman guard/forward Darlisha Reed of Gary, Indiana pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
