
Lexington Man Injured in Freightliner Accident
A 20-year old man was injured Thursday afternoon, while attempting to reattach the towed unit on a 2002 International freightliner in Lafayette County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident around 3:20, on Route Z, north of Mountain View Drive.
According to the online crash report, a group of four pedestrians were attempting to reattach the towed unit of the semi-truck, when another unoccupied freightliner began to roll down the hill towards the group.
The freightliner then struck the towed unit of the first semi-truck, pushing it into the pedestrians.
The report indicates one of the pedestrians, 20-year old Taylor Wayne D. Atkinson, of Lexington, suffered serious injuries in the accident. Atkinson was taken to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment.
The three other people, 23-year old Tyler J. Barton, of Corder, MO, 34-year old Harrison E. Burns, and 50-year old David D. Thomas, both of Lexington, refused medical treatment at the scene.
