Lion Dave Menefee Recognized For 50 Years of Service
Sedalia Lions Club President Evan Fluty honored Lion Dave Menefee with a plaque during the Lions' regular meeting Wednesday at the Heckart Community Center.
Lion Dave was recognized for 50 years of service to the club, who joined in 1974.
Sedalia Mayor Andrew Dawson also presented a proclamation to Lion Dave proclaiming Friday, March 1 (Dave's actual anniversary date) as Dave Menefee Day in Sedalia.
Debbie Mitchell and her husband Max attended Wednesday's event not as members, but as former neighbors.
“David Menefee is a wonderful neighbor. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. And he has always been extremely nice to Max and me. And we feel like one of the worst things about leaving our home on Barrett was leaving him behind,” she said. “We do miss him very much, and I'm so grateful to have had the experience of living next door to one of the nicest people you'll ever know.”
