Main Street Road Bridge Now Open in Pettis County
On Tuesday, June 25 at 11 a.m., the Pettis County Commission and representatives from OWN Engineering and JK Concrete & Hauling LLC conducted the final inspection for Bridge No. 4130009 on Main Street Road.
After the inspection of the bridge was complete, it was determined the project was substantially finalized and the road was ordered to be opened to traffic effective July 2.
“We’re happy to finally officially open Main Street Road Bridge,” said Western Commissioner Jim Marcum. “This project has been a priority for us for a long time, as it significantly improves transportation efficiency and ensures the safety of our residents. We extend our gratitude to all the Maincontractors, engineers, and county staff who worked to make the completion of this project a reality."
No local dollars were used on the $631,651 project, as it was financed entirely through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Additionally, the county secured over $500,00 in soft match credits to use in future projects.
Presiding Commissioner Bill Taylor added, “This project was a good use of ARPA funds for the benefit of our county infrastructure."
Eastern Commissioner Israel Baeza highlighted the project's broader significance. “For farmers, reliable infrastructure is essential. The new Main Street Road Bridge not only enhances their daily commutes but also supports the efficient transport of our produce and goods. This bridge also highlights our commitment to responsible fiscal management and effective project planning with its completion on time and within budget."
The Pettis County Commission appreciates the patience and support of the local community during the construction period. The temporary inconveniences faced by residents and businesses were met with understanding and cooperation, which greatly contributed to the successful completion of the project.
