A man died after crashing his SUV into a home in Springfield Friday night, but no one in the home was injured.

Springfield Police said the crash happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. Friday at Norton and National.

Police said 50-year-old James Duncan died at a hospital after crashing his Chevrolet Blazer into a home.

According to Springfield Police, a black 2002 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, driven by Duncan, was eastbound on Norton and attempted to make a left turn (northbound) onto National. The vehicle failed to navigate the turn and struck the house on the northeast corner of the intersection, 3010 North National.

Duncan was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. There were no injuries reported inside the residence.

Investigators said they believe speed was a factor in the crash, but they are still working to determine why Duncan crashed into the house.

This was the first fatal crash in Springfield this year.
