Man Killed, Woman Hurt in Missouri House Explosion

Authorities say a man was killed and a woman was injured in an eastern Missouri house explosion.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that High Ridge Fire District spokesman John Barton says the explosion was reported around 5:15 p.m. Sunday in a Jefferson County neighborhood.

Firefighters arrived to find a heavily damaged structure and neighbors helping a woman who had been inside. The woman was rushed to a hospital. Her condition wasn’t immediately available.

Barton says firefighters removed the man’s body from the ruble several hours later. The name of the man and the cause of the explosion weren’t immediately released.
