An eastern Missouri man has pleaded guilty in federal court to charges that he conspired with a former deputy in a series of assaults on women.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 47-year-old Jonathan Pohlmann of Owensville waived indictment Monday and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate civil rights.

Authorities say Pohlmann conspired with former Gasconade County deputy Marty Rainey to "injure, oppress, threaten, and intimidate" women with whom Rainey came in contact as a law enforcement officer. In addition to his role as a deputy, Rainey worked as a police officer in Hermann and Rosebud.

Rainey faces both state and federal charges. He is accused of sexually abusing women and enticing a minor into prostitution.

Attorneys for both men have declined comment.
