Hannibal Police Chief Lyndell Davis announced on Friday an arrest in the death of 84-year-old Carl Maxwell, whose body was discovered at 2034 Broadway on October 6.
29-year-old Carl S. Goldberg, formerly of Hannibal and now residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on Wednesday, October 14. Two detectives from the Hannibal Police Department traveled to Las Vegas on October 15 to interview the suspect, who was identified as Maxwell's son.
During a press conference Friday at the Hannibal Police Department, Davis read a prepared statement and did not take questions from the media, citing that the investigation is still ongoing.
